Vampire

Vampire

Vampire's have been in existence longer than any verbal or written words can account for. Initially created by a witch as revenge for the murder of her family. She invoked a curse of blood lust that would drive those responsible to harm anything and anyone when they were hungry. She could not have known exactly how her curse would have effected. There are many ways a person can become a vampire. Contrary to popular belief vampires are able to procreate relatively easily and as such are able to give birth to vampires. However, if one of the parents is human, or half vampire, the resulting child will be a Dhampir (or half vampire). The only other way to become a vampire is to be turned. Being turned has resulted in a much higher vampire population. It involves the human consuming the blood of a vampire. After this it is simply a case of the human being killed for them to become a fledgling. In this stage the fledgling is very much like the original vampires, filled with an insatable bloodlust, angry and always hungry. The only way to get past this stage is to consume human blood. If it is not consumed within 48 hours then the fledgling dies.

Traits

  • Vampire's do not appear to age. If a vampire is turned they physically remain the age they were when they were turned. However the physiology for a naturally born vampire is slightly different. They age at a regular rate until they physically appear to be approximately twenty years old. At which point they do not age any further.
  • As vampires live for much longer than humans and many supernatural creatures, the perception of lifestyle stages are a bit different for them. A vampire in their first hundred years of life are considered something akin to the first ten years of human life, they are little more than children to older vampires. Someone in the second hundred years of life is a teenager, the third hundred is twenties, etc.
  • Vampires are classed as undead and as such have no physiological functions such as breathing, eating, brain waves, etc. They do not require air like humans do and as such can survive in many places humans cannot; buried alive, under the ocean.
  • Turned vampires personalities are very different to the ones they posessed in their human form. This is due to the change taking a large toll on the human mind.
  • Vampires were gifted with a natural beauty which attracts humans to them. This, accompanied with their natural charisma, makes it much easier for them to get the blood they need to survive.
  • The consumption of human blood increases a vampires abilities. However, the consumption of animal blood, which many prefer, does make a vampire weaker than those who consume human blood.
  • Vampires are blessed with many enhanced abilities including; Strength, Healing, Agility, Senses, Intelligence, Speed, Durability and Endurance. The older a vampire gets the more their abilities improve.
  • Fledglings are newly turned vampires. They are stronger and faster than most vampires for the first 48 hours until they consume blood for the first time. If they elect not the drink the blood they will die.
  • Turned vampires have a very strong bond with those that turned them. They are able to control the newly turned vampire by simply telling them to do something, in addition to this they share a psychic link.
  • Vampires are unable to get sick by human illnesses. However, there are a few magical illnesses that can affect them and they can be effected by mental health issues. Consuming blood of someone with a blood disease can make a vampire severly ill.
  • Most rumours surrounding vampires are factually incorrect. For example; vampires can appear in both murros and pictures. Garlic has no effect on them whatsoever, neither do holy items. However, certain rumours are true. Sunlight, although it won't kill them unless they are in the process of dessicating, causes an almost instant third degree sunburn across any visible skin. A vampire must be invited into a house which is inhabited by those considered living whether human or supernatural. A werewolf bite and werewolf blood can kill a vampire like a poison. Both stakes and fire can kill a vampire. However, this can also kill a human.
  • Vampires have razor sharp fingernails, much like knives, which they use constantly in battle
  • Vampires are able to use hypnotism and read the minds of humans. However, supernaturals and other vampires (unless they were sired by them) are immune to this ability. Vampires are able to sense the soul of all creatures.
  • Vampires have a photographic memory and are unable to forget anything over the course of their lifetime. However, after they have lived a few centuries they begin to get confused on when it occurred.
  • Vampires emotions are much stronger than those of humans, as such over time they have evolved to be able to turn off their emotions. This state is why vampires are characterised as being soulless as many go on murder sprees without emotions.
  • Vampires have a true face which typically consists of; blood red eyes, dark veins and canine teeth. It differs from person to person but overall gives a much darker appearance to the vampire form. This only ever appears when a vampire is particularly angry, during a fight or when they are feeding.
  • It is possible for a vampire to have both too much and too little blood. Too much results in the vampire experiencing a drunk feeling much like a human would when consuming too much alcohol. Too little blood results in a vampire becoming desiccated in which they find themselves unable to move at all until they are fed blood. They are incredibly vulnerable in this state.
  • A Dhampir is a half vampire that must be born from a vampire and a human or a dhampir. As they are still living dhampir's still have a heartbeat, need air to survive and are able to eat human food in order to survive. Their need for these however is more like that of a serious athlete. For example; their heartbeat is much slower than most humans, they require less air to survive. Dhampir's are stronger than humans and experience many of the same abilities that vampires do. However, they have to work much harder than vampires to improve their abilities. Dhampir's live much longer than humans do, living for a maximum of around 300 years. Dhampir's have certain abilities which vampires do not, such as; a faster metabolism than humans and an ability to determine the species of a person by smell alone.
